The short version

  • Your images are processed on your device and are never uploaded. Analytics and ads never see them.
  • We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, and Google AdSense to show ads that keep the site free. Both use cookies.
  • In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, we ask for your consent before using analytics or advertising cookies. Wherever you are, you can opt out of personalized ads.
  • There are no accounts, and we don't sell your personal information.

This policy explains how Online Pixel Art (“we”, “us”) handles information when you use onlinepixelart.com (the “site”), and the choices you have. If you have any questions, email us at hello@onlinepixelart.com.

Your images

The converter runs entirely in your web browser. When you open, drop or paste an image, it is read and converted on your own device. Your images and the pixel art you make are not sent to us, to Google, or to anyone else, and we have no way to see them. In the converter, they are gone when you close or reload the page. The pixel art maker keeps your current drawing in your browser so you don't lose your work (see below).

If you use “Copy”, the pixel art is placed on your device's clipboard. Pasting an image into the page reads it from your clipboard only when you paste. Neither leaves your device.

Settings saved in your browser

The site uses your browser's local storage to remember a few settings between visits. This data stays on your device and is never sent to us or to Google.

You can delete this data at any time by deleting your custom palettes in the tool, or by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files that websites and their partners store in your browser. The site itself doesn't need cookies to work. The cookies used on the site are set by Google for two purposes:

Google may also use similar technologies, such as local storage or device identifiers, for the same purposes. You can read more in how Google uses cookies.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, to understand how visitors find and use the site so we can improve it. Google Analytics collects information such as:

Google Analytics identifies your browser with a random identifier stored in a cookie, not by your name. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We keep analytics data for no longer than 14 months, and we use it only in aggregate.

You can opt out of Google Analytics on all websites by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

The site is free because it shows ads served by Google AdSense. We don't choose the individual ads you see, and we don't receive personal information about you from them.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet. Google may work with other certified ad technology providers. Where required, they are listed in the consent message shown on the site.

You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time:

If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will be based on general information such as the page you are viewing or your approximate location rather than your interests.

Your consent choices

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we show a consent message from a Google-certified consent management platform when you first visit. Analytics and advertising cookies are only used for the purposes you agree to. If you decline, the site works exactly the same, and any ads you see are not personalized.

In US states with privacy laws such as California, using cookie data for personalized advertising may count as “selling” or “sharing” personal information. We don't sell personal information for money. Where the law requires it, the site shows an option to opt out of this, and you can also opt out using the tools in the section above.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the “Privacy and cookie settings” link shown on the site where it applies, or by clearing the site's cookies in your browser. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies entirely.

Importing palettes from Lospec

If you choose to import a palette from Lospec, your browser requests that palette directly from lospec.com. Like any website, Lospec receives your IP address and browser details with that request, and its own privacy policy applies. Nothing is sent to Lospec unless you use the import feature, and your images are never included.

Hosting and server logs

Like every website, the site is delivered by a web server. Our hosting provider may automatically record basic technical information when your browser requests a page, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. This is used only to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems, and is kept for a limited time. These logs never contain your images.

When you email us

If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply and to improve the site, we don't add you to any mailing list, and we delete messages when they are no longer needed.

Legal bases for processing

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, we rely on:

International transfers

Google may process data in the United States and other countries. Google relies on safeguards such as the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses for these transfers.

Children

The site is for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information about you, to object to or restrict how it is used, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority.

We don't hold analytics or advertising data in a form that identifies you by name, so the quickest way to control it is with the consent and opt-out tools above, or in your Google account if you're signed in to Google. For anything else, such as emails you sent us, contact us at hello@onlinepixelart.com.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the site or the services we use change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated. If we make a significant change, we will update this page before the change takes effect.
